Pigmentation in Black and Asian Skin

Microneedling

Microneedling involves piercing the skin with tiny sterile needles using a roller or a pen, to create microscopic wounds. This triggers your skin’s wound-healing response, and after this, new, healthy skin can form that matches your normal skin tone. This reduces the appearance of dark spots.

It is also used to treat

  • Acne scarring

  • Vascular skin

  • Lines and wrinkles

  • Dilated pores

Suitable for all skin types.

Course of treatments is required.

Despite the fact Black or Asian skin is unlikely to never get a sun burn, it is more prone to pigmentation.

Treating pigmentation in Black and Asian skin required a different approach.

The skin is more sensitive to inflammation induced hyperpigmentation and therefore cannot be treated with aggressive modalities.

It is a longer and gentler process.

If you find some potions or lotions online that promise you quick results, you may find the best case scenario is it did not work and the worst case scenario, it would burn your skin and make the hyperpigmentation even worse.

Black and Asian skin is notoriously reactive and difficult and slow to treat the hyperpigmentation.

Some safe modalities are emerging as being safe and effective for Black and Asian skin.
